Nalgonda: A fire accident occurred at the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant ahead of the trial run of its unit-I at Damaracherla on Sunday night. The fire was attributed to an oil leak in the boiler pipe while carrying out welding work.
No casualties were reported in the incident. However, the flames engulfed a major part of the unit, but quick action by the fire department helped in putting out the fire averting a major disaster. The works were
suspended following the incident. Unit-1 is being prepared for its official launch next month. Unit-2 of the plant was inaugurated in December last.
The officials are investigating the cause of the fire. Measures are being initiated to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Despite the setback, efforts are on to resume the works as part of the measures to begin operations as planned.
