Heavy downpour that lasted a few hours across Hyderabad on Monday affected normal life, as vital road stretches were left under sheets of water. Complaints of water logging on major thoroughfares poured-in from different areas, besides traffic snarls that only compounded the situation for road users.
On Monday, Madhapur region received the highest rainfall of 28.8 mm, followed by Begumpet and Srinagar Colony, which received 26 mm and 17.5 mm rainfall respectively.
With water logging reported from many areas, residents and road users had a tough time in commuting across the city. At Tech Mahindra entry point in Gachibowli, rain water inundated the entire stretch, affecting vehicular movement. Similar was the case at Shilparamam, Madhapur. Raja Krishna in a post on Twitter said that flood like situation prevailed near Mindspace after 20 minutes of rain.
Following rains, traffic snarls were reported at Narayanguda, Himayathnagar, Chaderghat,
Ravindra Bharathi, Lakdikapul, Masab Tank, Banjara Hills road no.10 and 12 and many other areas.
Telangana State can expect heavy rains and thunderstorms till this Friday with a possible break on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department warned on Monday.
In its forecast till September 21, the IMD said thunderstorms associated with lightning can be expected on Tuesday in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Yadadri Bhongir, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal Rural, Warangal Urban, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli and Bhadadri Kothagudem districts.
A cyclonic circulation over East-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood was likely to develop into a low-pressure area by Tuesday evening. This low-pressure area is likely to concentrate into a depression and move West north West towards north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coasts in the following two days.
