Visakhapatnam: Police have arrested a gang of inter-state robbers who have been terrorising travellers and robbed them of their belongings on the Darakonda ghat road in the Visakhapatnam agency area.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police at Chintapalle, Tushar Dudi, five teams were engaged to study and analyse the incidents of robbery that took place since October last year. On Monday, the leader of the gang Sujay Mondal, 34, and a key member of
his team Naresh Mondal, 21, were taken into custody.
There were about 15 cases of robbery and thefts pending against Sujay in Sileru, Odisha, and East Godavari districts and Naresh also was on the wanted-list in similar cases in Sileru.
Police up to now have arrested ten of the 12-member gang and seized from their possession three imported pistols, a car which costs Rs.9 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs.43,000 and five mobile phones.
