A massive 10-day mobile vaccination drive will commence from Saturday in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
As a part of the State government’s programme, the civic body will deploy vehicles in different parts of the city to inform people about the free vaccination that will be administered to eligible beneficiaries closer to their houses. These vehicles, equipped with a public address system, will go around the colonies to inform the residents about the drive.

Though the programme is being held especially for people who are yet to receive their second dose of the vaccine, GHMC officials said that the first dose of vaccine will also be administered. “Elaborate arrangements have been made and the first dose of vaccines will also be made available for people beside the final jab,” said a GHMC official.

As per civic body’s action plan, one mobile centre will be allocated to three

residential localities. Eligible people can visit the vaccination centre along with the Aadhaar card and spot registration of the beneficiaries will be done by the officials. The details will be entered in the CoWIN app before the free jab is administered. This programme scheduled to commence on Saturday is the second mobile vaccination drive in the city being held within two months.

In August, a similar drive was held in the city and administering the vaccine in residential localities under the programme helped many people who were not aware of the procedures to get themselves registered using the CoWIN app. The GHMC officials also said that the drive will be held by involving public representatives and resident welfare associations (RWAs). “As a part of the programme, every day, the civic body staffers will randomly visit houses and check for eligible beneficiaries,” said the official.
