The Telangana State Employment Guarantee Scheme (TSEGS) Council has decided to provide 100 days’ employment to 60 per cent of the registered job-card holders before March 31.
The first meeting of the council was held here on Monday under the chairmanship of panchayat raj minister Jupally Krishna Rao and was attended by other ministers T Harish Rao, N Narasimha Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Azmeera Chandulal. The TSEGS council has decided to speed up the EGS works and see that Telangana topped the
country in providing wage employment.
“The state government has released funds for various works in the state. There are works. There is no dearth of funds. Provide employment under EGS,” Krishna Rao told the officials. He said government released ` 600 crore for construction of CC roads before March 31. Irrigation projects, Mission Kakatiya and removal of weed in tanks will also be taken up under EGS. The council decided to provide 150 days’ works to physically-challenged persons.
