South Central Railway (SCR) has ferried as many as 12,000 migrant workers through 11 Shramik Special Trains from various stations in the city to different States between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
Officials said that these special trains were operated from Ghatkesar, Cherlapally, Bibinagar, Lingampally, Medchal and Bolarum stations and transported the migrant workers to Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
The officials said that physical distance and sanitisation were being maintained during the shifting of the migrant workers. “Each of the sleeper coach in these
trains have 50 seats and all the trains are non-stop and directly halt at the destination,” said an official.
The Shramik Special Trains are being operated to ferry nominated people like migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and other persons who are stranded at different places during lockdown on request of State government.
Apart from railway officials, Commissioner and Addition Commissioner, Rachakonda, Collectors of Hyderabad, Medchal, Yadadri Bhongir districts and other police officials were supervising the arrangements.
