Mon 20 Nov 2017, 12:01:41
A 12-lane road has been proposed from Miyapur to Bharat Nagar in Kukatpally circle. The file is at the chief minister's office and according to the officials of Hyderabad Road Development Corporation (HRDC) the file will be approved. "The road will be laid till Telangana Legislative Assembly. The 12-lane road will split from Bharat Nagar in Kukutpally circle and will become a four or five lane road till the Assembly. The project will be approved soon" said Mohan Nayak, chief engineer of Hyderabad Road Development Corporation.

Apart from this road, the maintenance work of four major stretches has been handed over to Hyderabad Road Development Corporation. The 19 km stretch from

Miyapur to Telangana Legislative Assembly, main road connecting Bowenpally and Assembly, road from Assembly to L B Nagar and road from Afzalgunj to Aaramghar will be maintained by HRDC. These roads were earlier maintained by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Municipal Administration minister, KT Rama Rao, had in March announced corpus fund of Rs.500 crore for improvement of roads under HRDC. Out of total 9,000 km length of roads in GHMC limits, 400 km of roads have been handed over to HRDC. The only job of HRDC is to maintain the roads under their jurisdiction, unlike GHMC which is responsible for looking after all the civic amenities.
