Fourteen women who were staying at the Ujwala Rescue Home managed by Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust at Hydershahkote escaped after breaking open the ventilation of a bathroom on Friday night.
The women who were staying at the rescue home for a while made good their escape after sneaking through the small ventilation in the room, then on to the lintel above the window, from where they jumped on the ground and headed towards the
compound wall. The women managed to scaled the compound wall which has a solar fencing and escaped.
The incident happened around 2 am. On noticing a large number of women missing, the management informed the police about it. A case was booked and efforts are on to trace the women.
The entire escape sequence was captured on closed circuit cameras installed in the premises.
Around 30 women are staying in the home.
