On Friday,15 new patients were tested positive for the deadly H1N1 virus by the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM).

The number of swine flu cases in the state have now touched 1941 (this year so far). Experts advise preventive measures like avoiding crowded places, maintaining hygiene, seeking medical help during fever and protecting oneself from mosquito bites. Health

authorities expect the numbers to rise.

“Since the virus had mutated and no study has been done to assess whether the H1N1virus has become more virulent, it's not possible to predict its course. Nevertheless, swine flu cases peak during winter months and hence the numbers could go up further,“ said a senior official from the health department.
