18 gates of Nagarjuna Sagar project lifted

Nalgonda: Keeping in mind the lifting of gates of Nagarjuna Sagar Project scheduled at 11 am on Friday, the officials of Water Resource Development lifted 18 crest gates of NSP tailpond at Adavidevulapally and released 76,203 cusecs of water downstream.

The water level in NSP tailpond at 8 am was 74.08 feet as against full reservoir level of 75.50 feet. The water storage in tailpond was 6.133 tmc as against gross storage capacity of 7.08 tmc. The total



discharge of water into the river from tail pond was 79, 783 cusecs..

The water level in Nagarjuna Sagar Project touched 580.80 feet as against full reservoir level of 590 feet. The current water storage was 285.3216 tmc as against 312.0450 tmc of gross storage capacity. Water release to NSP to left canal was 2712 cusecs and 1800 cusecs to SLBC canal. Inflow to the project was increased to 3,50,102 cusecs.
