Over the past 15 days, the Rachakonda SHE teams conducted decoy operations that resulted in apprehending 218 individuals engaging in harassment of girls and women at various public locations, including bus stands, railway stations, metro stations, schools, colleges, and vegetable markets.
The apprehended individuals, identified as stalkers and eve-teasers, underwent counselling sessions in the presence of their parents. Among the 218 apprehended, 112 were adults who were presented before the court, while the remaining 106 minors underwent counselling with their parents present, said T. Usha Vishwanath, DCP and Head of Women Protection Division (WPS) Rachakonda, in a
release on Wednesday.
The counselling sessions were facilitated by the Bhumika Women's Collective (NGO) at LB Nagar CP Camp office (Women Safety Wing Office), conducted in the presence of family members.
Between November 11 and November 15, the WPS Rachakonda received a total of 224 complaints. Among these, 28 victims experienced harassment through mobile phones, 33 through WhatsApp calls and messages, 21 through social media apps, and 142 were directly harassed. In response, the WPS registered 11 criminal cases, 90 petty cases, and provided counselling to 123 individuals, the DCP said.
