A total of 222 auxiliary polling stations will be set up in 31 districts of the State to ensure smooth polling on December 7.

Chief Electoral Officer of the State, Rajat Kumar, said the auxiliary polling stations were intended to accommodate overflow of voters from the regular polling stations.

Consequent to the sanction of these auxiliary polling stations by the Election Commission, the total number of the polling stations in the State has gone up to 32,796 from 32,574.

A major share of 65 auxiliary polling stations has gone to Medchal-Malkajgiri district, while Hyderabad and Nizamabad districts ranked second and third by



securing 40 and 31 stations respectively. The districts of Peddapalli, Jogulamba-Gadwal and Jangaon and Vikarabad are given one each.

Break of auxiliary polling stations sanctioned in other districts is Warangal (Urban)- 19, Ranga Reddy -17, Sangareddy -12, Karimnagar -9, Nirmal- 8, Rajanna-Sircilla -4 and Adilabad, Wanaparthy, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Khammam two each.

After the new addition of auxiliary polling stations to the originally sanctioned ones, Hyderabad accounted for the largest number of booths (3,866), followed by Ranga Reddy (3,090) and Medchal-Malkajgiri (2,175).
