25% rebate in LRS fees till Mar 31

Thu 20 Feb 2025, 11:32:08
In a move to expedite the long-pending layout regularisation scheme (LRS), the government has announced a 25 per cent rebate on fee for individuals seeking registration of plots in unauthorised layouts. This benefit is available to those who apply for the regularisation of plots under the pending scheme, stalled for over four years since the submission of applications in October 2020 during the BRS regime.

The government has set March 31 as the deadline for individuals to avail of this rebate. The decision was made during a high-level review meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and IT minister D. Sridhar Babu attended the meeting.

The LRS scheme, which aims to regularise plots in unauthorised layouts, has faced significant delays, leaving many applicants, particularly from lower and middle-income groups, waiting for a resolution. The government's initiative is aimed at accelerating the implementation of the scheme and providing relief to the affected residents.

Bhatti noted that those who purchased plots individually but failed to register them will also be provided with opportunities to

regularise the unregistered plots. In cases where 10 per cent of the plots in a layout have been registered, the remaining 90 per cent will be eligible for regularisation under the LRS scheme. The rebate applies to individuals who have obtained sale deed registration and wish to complete the LRS process before the March 31 deadline. Ministers appealed to the public to take advantage of this limited-time offer, stressing the benefits for poorer and middle-class families who have been waiting for years.

While the government has extended these concessions, officials were instructed to exercise caution and strictness when dealing with lands on the prohibited list. The ministers urged authorities to ensure the regularisation process remains transparent and efficient, without causing inconvenience to the general public. To streamline the payment process, the ministers recommended that people make LRS payments directly at sub-registrar offices, rather than navigating through multiple government offices. With the implementation of these new measures, the state government hopes to bring a resolution to the long-pending LRS applications and ease the registration process for lakhs of plot owners in unauthorised layouts.
