Khammam: As many as 28 girls studying in a Gurukul at Wyra in the district tested positive for Covid-19.
Gurukul principal M Laxmi told mediapersons that the class VIII students were suffering from Covid symptoms for the last few days.
Their samples were sent to a lab for testing on Saturday and 13 students tested positive for Covid.
On Sunday, the health officers conducted Covid tests in the Gurukul. Of the 440 students whose samples were
tested, 15 students tested positive for Covid.
Those infected were shifted to their residences for home isolation. Health Minister T Harish Rao spoke to the local health officers over phone and directed them to take all measures to stop the spread of Covid in the institution.
Gurukul officials were told to immediately sanitise the entire premises of institute and the staff was also instructed to follow all Covid protocols.
