Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday gave approval to a proposal for extending the facility of keeping business establishments open for all 365 days in a year for the next three years.
This comes as good news for shops, traders, business establishments and others, who can now open up their businesses for 365 days a year avoiding closure on holidays and festivals in the State. Based on a feedback from businessmen and traders, the TRS government directed officials to extend the policy for another three years and help them to function as usual, he said.
The labour department on Thursday issued a GO in
this regard. The deadline of this policy, which was implemented for one year on a pilot basis, came to an end on Wednesday. The Chief Minister asked officials to extend it by another three years with some riders for protecting the rights of labourers to work only for eight hours a day and 48 hours a week along with a holiday every week.
The shops and business establishments may remain open from 9 am to 11 pm and the details of labourers should be maintained in a register, apart from giving an appointment letter, overtime register, remittance of salaries in bank accounts, EPF and ESI facilities.
