Mon 25 Mar 2019, 12:18:24
A total of 41,613 voters in the city have requested the State Election Commission to delete their names under Forms 7, 8 and 8A. Another 59,331 have applied to include their names in the voter lists. The EC has rejected 2,000 applications, leaving the city with about 41.78 lakh voters.

The GHMC said the deletion requests had come from those who were permanently shifting out of the city, the relatives of those who had died,

voters with duplicate entries, and in the form of claims and objections from political parties, and individuals who opted to vote in their native places.

A GHMC official said the 2,000 applications for entry on the voters list was rejected for lack of appropriate information. Officials said new enrolments (Form 6 and Form 6A) can be done till Monday, the final day of nominations.
