The polling in Chevella and Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituencies passed off peacefully on Thursday. Owing to enhanced security measures that were taken up in the two constituencies, the voting went off in an incident-free manner.
High pitched campaigning took place in the two constituencies that came into existence in 2008, following the implementation of delimitation of Parliamentary constituencies based on recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.
Chevella Parliamentary constituency registered 53.80 voting per cent while Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency witnessed 42.75 per cent. As many as 24
candidates including G Ranjith Reddy from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from Congress and B Janardhan Reddy from BJP are in the fray.
For Malkajgiri constituency, 12 candidates including Marri Rajasekhar Reddy from TRS, A Revanth Reddy from Congress and N Ramachander Rao from BJP are in the fray.
Police officials said the election in two constituencies was peaceful because of advance planning and elaborative security measures taken at the polling booths. A majority of areas in these constituencies fall under the Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits.
