Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao and Health Minister, E Rajender will inaugurate 45 Basthi Dawakhanas in the city on Friday.
Located in the slums to meet the health care needs of the urban population with focus on urban poor, these Basthi Dawakhanas make available essential primary health care services and reduce the out of pocket expenses for treatment for the poor.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) which along with Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare department is presently operating 123 Basthi Dawakhanas has readied 45 new health and wellness centres.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had recently instructed the officials to immediately inaugurate the new
facilities which are ready to be functional. Following this, the GHMC has appointed the nodal officers for monitoring and co-coordinating the inauguration of the 45 Dawakhanas.
These officers are entrusted with the task of ensuring that prescribed activities are completed and that the Basthi Dawakhas are fully functional right from the day of inauguration.
The officials are expected to ensure reporting of the medical officer, staff nurse and supporting staff of the Dawakhanas, availability of electricity connection, water facility, sanitation in and around Basthi Dawakhana, logistics needed to inaugurate and to make the Basthi Dawakhana functional apart from availability of medicines and medical equipment.
