In Telangana, 47 candidates remained in the fray for bye-election to Munugode Assembly constituency after the withdrawal of nominations. The bye-election is slated to be held on 3rd next month.

By the end of the closure of the deadline, 36 candidates withdrew their nominations yesterday. The resignation of K. Rajagopal Reddy, who left the Congress party necessitated the bye-election. This time, he is contesting



on a BJP ticket.

The ruling TRS fielded K Prabhakar Reddy while the Congress fielded P. Sravanthi. Besides the major political parties, candidates from about 10 registered parties and a considerable number of independents are also in the fray.

The independents include unemployed and people who have been displaced by the Cherlagudem reservoir.
