Health Minister Etela Rajender on Wednesday said that there were 4,790 medical seats in the State from eleven government medical colleges and 23 private colleges. The minister was replying to a question raised by TRS member G Kishore Kumar and others, who wanted to know about details of medical seats available in the State during the Question Hour in the Assembly.
The minister said that there were only
five government medical colleges before the formation Telangana which include Osmania, Gandhi, Kakatiya and when TRS fought alleging injustice to the region during undivided Andhra Pradesh, two colleges were given one each in Adilabad and Nizamabad. Rajender said that they have filled up top posts in the medical colleges, including Professors and Assistant Professors.
