Hyderabad: The Telangana government's free mass eye screening project Kanti Velugu completed the process of screening of 50 lakh individuals on Thursday in only 25 working days.
The chief minister, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, started the second phase of the Kanti Velugu program on January 18 in Khammam. In the next 100 working days, it is expected to check
1.5 million people at 16,533 different locations.
The world's largest free eye screening project, Kanti Velugu-II, is expected to be completed by June 15 by the government of Telangana. Approximately 34 lakh (or 68% of the 50 million people who were screened) did not have any issues with their eyes, while 16 million required medical attention.
