Warangal: A flock of sheep was burnt to death in a shed in what appears to be an arson incident on Thursday night.

In all, 500 heads of sheep were burnt to death after unidentified miscreants set fire to the shed in which the sheep were held.

Police said Duggirala Laxman of Bhaskarraopeta was a sheep farmer and had driven the flock into the shed on Thursday

night.

Past midnight, miscreants set fire to the shed and by the time fire tenders reached the spot and doused the flames, all sheep have died. The loss is estimated to be around Rs 50 lakh.

Incidentally, just last week 12 sheep were stolen from the shed and the latest arson incident caused the suspicion that Laxman was deliberately targeted. Police are investigating.
