Mulugu/Kothagudem: An earthquake with a 5.3 magnitude on the Richter scale, with Mulugu as its epicentre at a depth of 40 km, occurred for a few seconds on Wednesday at 7.27 am.
The earthquake, with a variation in magnitude, was felt in Warangal, Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam, Khammam and other areas from 7.27 am to 7.30 am. The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) has reviewed the incident and reported it on its website.
People panicked and ran out of their houses at many places. The incident has become an issue of early morning debate for many in all areas. No loss of life or property was
reported.
Meanwhile, minor tremors were felt in BHEL, RC Puram and Sangareddy town, and various parts of Sangareddy district at 7.30 am. Citizens noticed everything in their houses and shops shaking for a few seconds. However, no damage was reported so far in these areas.
Many areas of erstwhile Karimnagar district also witnessed tremors on Wednesday morning for about 5 seconds from 7.25 am to 7.30 am. Many people ran out of their homes and stood on the roads for a while. Peddapalli, Manthani, Sultanabad, Husnabad, Odela, Kmalakpur, Godavarikhani, Ramagiri, Chigurumamidi and other places also reported the tremors.
