7,000 women across different age groups participated with enthusiasm at the third edition of Hyderabad Pinkathon, which began at People’s Plaza on Sunday. Fitness enthusiast and avid barefoot runner, Milind Soman flagged off the event after an arousing cultural programme in which Executive Director of Apollo Hospital Sangeeta Reddy and RJ Priyanka from Red FM were present.
Marking its efforts to raise awareness on lifestyle and health issues for women, such as breast cancer, the event was held across the categories 3km, 5km, 10km and 21km.
Some of the noteworthy participants in the run were a group of 100 visually-impaired and 30 hearing-impaired girls. Additionally, the run witnessed a squad of cancer survivors who participated.
Commenting on the success Soman, Founder Pinkathon said, “Pinkathon is more than a marathon. It is the seed of change. It is the beginning of a movement carried forward by a growing community of empowered women across India, who share a belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with empowered women.
