800 new bus shelters in Hyderabad city: KTR

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Tuesday held a review meeting with GHMC and ASCI officials on three key issues – construction of bus shelters, Swachh Hyderabad and digitisation of door numbers. According to a recent survey jointly conducted by GHMC and ASCI, 2,800 bus stops were identified in 38 corridors.

Basing on the report, it was decided in



principle to construct 800 new bus stops and the Minister directed the officials to reconsider the 226 identified areas suitable for construction of bus bays. It was decided to classify the proposed bus stops into four categories and the city into three to four zones. The Minister asked the GHMC officials to hold meetings with those running bus stops and prepare new models with better facilities.
