The GHMC authorities have started the debris clearing exercise on the Amberpet – Uppal stretch where several buildings were pulled down owing to road widening works.
The issue arose after the GHMC authorities as part of road widening works had demolished a few shops on the Amberpet stretch. The authorities claimed that what they demolished were shops and not religious structures. However, the locals and TS Wakf Board claimed there was a 200-year-old mosque which was pulled down by the GHMC authorities during the process.
