Chief secretary S K Joshi said the government had decided to double the amount for beneficiaries of Aasara pensions with effect from April 1, 2019. Twenty lakh beneficiaries aged between 57 and 64 years have been identified by officials for the pension scheme. CM Chandrasekhar Rao during his campaign had promised to reduce the eligibility age for Aasara



pensions.

KCR had also promised to increase the pension amount from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,016 per month for old-age, widow, single women and other categories. The monthly pension amount for the differently-abled will be enhanced from the existing Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,016 per month.
