A Sub-Inspector working at SR Nagar police station, was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Monday when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person.
The SI, Bellana Bhaskar Rao, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from one Mohammed Khasim for not initiating action against him in a criminal case registered at the
SR Nagar police station and also to influence civil supplies officials to release a vehicle seized by them.
On a complaint made by Mohammed Khasim, the ACB laid a trap and caught the SI while he was accepting the bribe amount of Rs 25,000 in denomination of Rs 500 currency notes. Rao was arrested and was produced before a court.
