After a few days of dry and hot weather, the city witnessed heavy downpours at several places on Monday. The maximum temperature recorded in the city around afternoon was 31.8 degree Celsius, which, following the sudden showers, dipped to 26 degree Celsius.
Several localities in the city, including Khairatabad, Musheerabad, Nampally, Asifnagar, Ameerpet and Golconda received moderate to heavy rainfall upto 35.5 mm towards evening. Areas surrounding Venkateshwara Colony in Banjara Hills received the highest rainfall of 49 mm on Monday. The sudden showers also took many by surprise, with waterlogging in many areas affecting the evening traffic as well.
According to the forecast by Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the city is likely to witness rain or thundershowers for the next two to
three days. The maximum temperature in the city during the period is expected to be between 30 to 32 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be in the range 21 to 23 degree Celsius.
Several districts of Telangana also recorded light to moderate rains on Monday. Sangareddy, Adilabad, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Rangareddy received rainfall upto 47 mm.
