After techies, the spotlight is now back on students, especially university students, with the police intensifying its crackdown on drugs.

City Police Commissioner CV Anand said they suspected students of various universities in the city were not just consuming drugs but selling the stuff also.

Addressing the media following the arrest of N.Sai Vignesh, a student from Gajularamaram in connection with drug trafficking, Anand said he purchased LSD blots through the Dark Web and sold it to his friends and others.

“He hosted parties and sold blots, each for Rs.3,000, to friends and

others. The parties were mostly held in hotel rooms booked online in the city. He was using the Dark Net for his illegal business to avoid coming under the surveillance of law enforcement authorities,” Anand said.

Apart from Vignesh, two other degree students and three techies were arrested while two women university students, also suspects in the case, were absconding.

The Commissioner also said a few personnel of the Hyderabad City Police were trained in using the Dark Net and to do undercover operations. “Based on information gathered through the Dark Net, we are carrying out operations,” he said.
