AIMIM MLC Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri appointed as new pro tem chairman of Council

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLC Syed Aminul Hasan Jafri has been appointed as the pro tem chairman of the Telangana State Legislative Council. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan issued a notification to this effect on Wednesday. 

According to notification, Jafri's appointment came into force with effect from January 11 and he will continue to remain in the post until the election of new chairman for the Legislative



Council. 

Journalist-turned-politician Jafri has been an MLC for the past 12 years. The Legislative Council has been functioning without a full time chairman since June last year when chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy  retired. 

The Legislative Council, unlike the Legislative Assembly is a continous body and hence it cannot remain without a head.
