Except for Begumpet flyover, all other flyovers in Hyderabad will be closed on the New Year eve between 10 pm on Friday up to 2 am on Saturday. The Hyderabad Traffic Police has placed certain traffic restrictions in the surroundings of Hussain Sagar also during the same time.
Accordingly, traffic will not be allowed on the NTR Marg, PVNR Marg and Upper Tank Bund and traffic coming from PV Statue towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg will be diverted towards Khairatabad and Rajbhavan Road.
Likewise, traffic from BRK Bhavan towards NTR Marg will be diverted towards Iqbal Minar, Lakdi-ka-Pul and vehicles from Liberty junction will not be allowed towards Upper Tank Bund. Hence, motorists should turn towards the Ambedkar statue, Telugu Thalli flyover road, Iqbal Minar, Ravindra Bharathi and other alternate roads. Traffic from
Khairatabad Market to go towards Necklace Rotary will be diverted towards Sensation Theater, Rajdoot lane and Lakdikapul. The Mint compound lane adjacent to Secretariat will be closed for vehicles.
Officials said traffic from Nallagutta Railway bridge will not be allowed towards Sanjeevaiah Park and Necklace Road and diverted towards Karbala Maidan or Minister Road.
Traffic from Secunderabad will be diverted at the Sailing Club towards Kavadiguda ‘X’ Roads, Lower Tank Bund, Kattamaisamma Temple, Ashok Nagar and RTC ‘X’ Roads. Heavy vehicles including private buses, trucks will not be allowed into the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate limits till 2 am on Saturday.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police said extensive checks to curb drunken driving and other violations will be taken up on New Year eve.
