Telangana’s peace ambassador M.A. Najeeb has been appointed international director of upcoming ‘Mayors of Asia & Africa Local Government Summit’.
Scheduled from May 15 to 17, the summit will be held at United Nations headquarters in New York, Amb. Najeeb told the press in Hyderabad.
He said that mayors play a crucial role in overall development of cities.
“Through this summit, we want to bring awareness about development, environment, health, education and women safety, among other
issues.
“The international summit would be a suitable platform for mayors from various countries to understand issues affecting city-life and share best practices to address those issues,” Amb. Najeeb added.
African Students Association, Telangana State president Peter Ajah briefed about African local government and significance of the summit.
Also present at the meet was Mrs. Ghazala Sakeena, Executive Coordinator, Office of International Peace Ambassador, Embassies Relations Office at United Nations.
