A coordination meeting of different government departments was held here on Monday in view of the forthcoming Bakrid festival.
Organised by the Hyderabad City Police, the meeting was attended by officials of various government departments and religious personalities of the Muslim community. City Commissioner Anjani Kumar appealed to the community to cooperate with the police and celebrate the festival in a peaceful manner.
He said the city police were making elaborate bandobast
prior to the festival to ensure there were no law and order issues. He asked people to not to circulate unverified videos on social media platforms.
Mohd Saleem, chairman, Telangana State Wakf Board, said a few groups were creating trouble for cattle traders headed to Hyderabad. He appealed to the police to take steps to prevent attacks on the traders and at the same time, asked the traders not break the law pertaining to slaughter of specific animals.
