The Telangana Vidyut Employees Union a faction of the state electricity employees union, called for a strike from April 25 in support of six demands for artisans in power utilities.
The Telangana State Power Employees Joint Action Committee (TSPEJAC) and Telangana State Electricity Employees Joint Action Committee (TSEEJAC) had agreed to a memorandum of settlement on April 15 and called off their proposed strike on April 17.
Talks with the JAC leaders succeeded after the power utilities management had agreed to a seven per cent hike in salaries,
providing medical facilities and other issues related to artisans.
Despite this, the Telangana Vidyut Employees Union on Tuesday called for strike citing six major demands: APSEB service rules should be implemented for artisans; conversion should be provided based on educational qualifications; 50 per cent PRC should be provided; 35 per cent PRC should be implemented for newly-appointed artisans; all workers, who have identity cards of TS Genco, TS Transco and the northern and southern discoms should be recognised as artisans.
