The
Union Finance Minister, who presented a whopping Rs 19.78 lakh crore budget,
including Rs 5.5 lakh crore plan allocation and Rs 14.28 non-plan allocation
has announced Rs 2000 crore for Andhra Pradesh and Rs 36 crore for Telangana
State towards setting up of various educational
institutions and other projects
as per Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. The Polavaram project got Rs 100 crore
and the proposed Metro Rail project in Vijayawada got Rs 100 crore in the
Central budget.
Other allocations are: Rs 20 cr for IIIT, Rs 40 cr for IIT in Tirupati, Rs 30 cr for IIM in Visakhapatnam, Rs 40 cr for NIT in Tadepalligudem, Rs 1678 cr for Steel Plant in Visakha, Rs 23.61 cr for Visakha Port Trust and Rs 1 cr for Central varsity. Similarly, allocations to Telangana State are: Rs 1 cr for Tribal University, Rs 20 cr IIT and Rs 15 cr for Incois.
