In Telangana, Army joins relief activities as water levels in River Godavari touched 71. ft and Bhadri Kothagudem district is witnessing the worst flood fury.
Though the rest of the state got respite from incessant rains, flood fury intensified in Bhadradri Kothagudem.
Temple town Bhadrachalm got disconnected with rest of the areas as the use of road and bridge over River Godavari has been stopped while electricity and drinking water supply have been badly affected. About 21 thousand people from 95 villages have been evacuated and shifted to safer locations.
Five teams of army including medical and engineer teams have joined relief activities in Bhadrachalam last evening. 10 teams of NDRF and rescue teams of Singareni Coal collieries are in the affected areas undertaking rescue activities.
Special boats along with men from Tourism and Fire Services departments have reached the temple town.
Meanwhile Senior officer N Sridhar has been appointed as special officer to monitor the relief operations. According to the state authorities, people living in low-lying areas all along the banks of the river have been relocated to safer places as a
precaution.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre predicted light to moderate rain likely at some places in the state for the next two days.
The flood situation in river Godavari has worsened with rapid rise in water levels and the river is flowing at Bhadrachalam at over 71 ft this morning.

The Temple town has been cut off with the rest of the areas as public movement has been stopped on the bridge across Godavari and several areas around the town have been inundated.
The electricity supply was stopped as a precaution. Drinking water supply has been badly hit as flood water entered into the pumphouses relating to drinking water supply to the town.
District collector D. Anudeep informed that the government machinery is fully ready to address any eventuality and all measures have been taken to strengthen the river embankment in case of any need.
