Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), Principal Secretary, Arvind Kumar on Monday directed officials to clear debris and garbage dumped in River Musi bed from abutting roads and facilitate free flow of water.
On Monday, Kumar inspected the stretch from Puranapul to Imliban and observed that heaps of garbage and debris was being dumped into Musi River bed.
The Principal Secretary instructed officials to clear the garbage immediately and also streamline the flow of water to utilise the Trunk Sewer and I&D structures to maximum designed capacity with effective maintenance.
He also directed officials to take up the cleaning of the river course, existing walkways, lighting, illumination to the Muslimjung pul. Noticing huge
quantity debris at Metro station, he instructed the officials to clear the debris and to make the river course for free flow.
Further, the Musi River Front Development Corporation Limited will get the unutilised bridge on the river examined by a consultant and use it for accommodating vegetable vendors without disturbing traffic.
MRDCL Managing Director K Ashok Reddy was asked to commence the works immediately by coordinating with GHMC officials. Chief Secretary SK Joshi had convened a meeting last week and had instructed officials to prepare an action plan to improve the Musi River bed stretch from Puranapul to Imliban at the earliest. Accordingly, Arvind Kumar had inspected the stretch, said a press release.
