Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi, on Wednesday hailed the three year rule of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government, stating that the most remarkable thing was that there was not a single case of corruption or even charge against it. The social welfare schemes launched by the government had endeared it to people. “KCR remains immensely popular”, Owaisi said.
The Majlis leader was confident that the Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, would fulfil all the promises he had made. However, provision of 12 per cent reservation to Muslims was a big challenge. “The BJP will definitely challenge it in court and I hope KCR will fight the legal battle,” Owaisi told.
He felt the BJP chief, Amit Shah, was living in a fool’s paradise by thinking that Telangana would become the gateway for his party’s entry into the
south. This was not going to happen. The social welfare schemes launched by the TRS government were having a big impact and should see it through the next election. “The BJP is unable to pin down KCR as he was evenly handling all communities without giving a chance for complaint,” he said.
The Majlis leader asserted that there was no threat to his party as it was always alive to people’s problems. “No other political party has the mass contact system that the Majlis has. If there is election next month, we are ready to face it. We have a well-oiled machinery,” the Majlis leader said.
Stating that his party’s identity was its work, Owaisi said the Majlis was taking up works rising above religious lines. The fact that Hindu candidates of Majlis won against their Muslim opponents in the GHMC elections was enough proof of this.
