Autos bandh from midnight in city

Autos in twin cities would go off the road from April 12 midnight in responses to the one-day auto bandh call given on April 13 in protest against the “conspiracy” of the Ola and Uber Cabs companies to indirectly force the poor auto drivers to go out of the city and demanding that the government immediately arrest the Ola and Uber managements for collecting less fares than autorickshaws illegally.

            Mohd Amanullah Khan, B. Venkatesham, V. Kiran, M.A. Saleem, A. Satti Reddy and Mohd. Habeeb, leaders of the JAC in a joint press statement, alleged that the ruling TRS has sold away the interests of the poor auto drivers in favour of Ola and Uber companies and that was the reason why the State government was adopting a policy of silence in the matter.




style="text-align:justify;text-indent:0.5in">They pointed out that the Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy has ordered the Transport Department to take stern action against the private illicit vehicles carrying bus passengers and thereby causing loss to RTC, the government was not taking action against the Ola and Uber Cabs plying illegally by indulging in uneconomic competition resulting in deterioration of metered auto services violating section 67 of the MV Act.

            The other demands of the auto drivers JAC include the Chief Minister should fulfill his promise made to the auto drivers at the time of 2014 Assembly Elections the auto drivers will be issued Transport D.Ls and Badges to drive autos drivers autos without 8th class pass condition and that the Chief Minister should also fulfill his promise made to auto drivers that if the TRS party is voted to power there will be no RTA and Police harassment on auto drivers.  Finally, they appealed to the auto drivers in twin cities to participate in the proposed one day auto bandh and make it a success.
