To avoid accidents, driver training centers will be set up in all districts on the lines of one in Sircilla District, according to Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy.

The minister made a surprise visit to Bandlaguda RTA office near Chandrayangutta in the old city along with local MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi and others. The minister said Bandlaguda RTA office will be named after Salar (Salahuddin Owaisi) in recognition to his services and a related GO has already been issued. The government has released Rs 49.80 lakh for driving track at Bandlaguda RTA Office, he said and directed TSMIDC CE Lakshma Reddy to complete the works in two months. Making a surprise visit to the center, the minister called upon people, leaders and youth to help build a new Telangana that sans fatal accidents.

Mahendar Reddy admitted that the accidents are due to lack of training and awareness on road safety. The minister said



the officials will take up awareness drive on the need for training. To avoid such accidents, a modern training center with test tracks facility is being constructed in Sircilla district. The Centre was extending financial assistance for the purpose and similar centers will be constructed in all the districts. 

District authorities are on the job of acquiring land for driving centers with tracks to be built each at a cost of Rs 5 crore, he said and asked to take up plantation drive on the premises.

Owaisi extended thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Mahender Reddy for a decision to name the Bandlaguda RTA after his father Salahuddin Owaisi. He also asked the officials to take steps to strengthen the RTAs and speed up online services. With Bandlaguda RTA office and modernisation of Midhani depot will cater to the needs of local people.
