A Bangladeshi national, who was trying to fly abroad using a fake Indian passport, was detained at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
The passenger, identified as Rezon, had obtained a fake passport in the name of Rajvan. He was handed over to RGIA police. A case has been registered against him and he was arrested on Tuesday.
According to officials, Rezon was to fly to Sharjah. During checks, immigration officials inquired about him based on his profiling
and found that he was in possession of a fake passport.
Further inquiries revealed that he had entered India illegally via Tripura in 2010 and had settled down in West Bengal. There he fraudulently managed to get an Aadhar card, Pan card, ration card and even voter ID, with the help of some agents in West Bengal.
Using these documents, he obtained an Indian passport by changing his name and other personal details.
