Bathukamma concludes in Telangana

Lanes and bylanes in the city reverberated with drum beats and traditional Bathukamma songs as women celebrated Saddula Bathukamma – the grand finale of the floral festivities on Sunday.

Saddula Bathukamma marks the culmination of nine-day festivities and immersion of floral stacks in water bodies. Community halls, function halls, colony parks and other locations, including crossroads buzzed with activity as women and children gathered in large numbers to celebrate the festival.

Rain was no deterrent for the celebrations as many continued at venues that were specially decked up with colourful flowers and attractive illumination. Dressed in traditional attire, women turned up in good numbers at community halls and parks to celebrate the occasion.

in association with Culture department organised a grand programme at LB Stadium to celebrate Saddula Bathukamma. Cutting across communities, women joined the celebrations. After an hour of dance and songs amidst rains, participants took out a colourful procession to Tank Bund.

Leading the procession, different artists from across the State danced and performed traditional plays. Tableau decorated with flowers and lighting depicting Telangana’s culture and the significance of Bathukamma festivities were part of the procession.

Hyderabad Traffic Police made elaborate arrangements around LB stadium and Tank Bund to ensure free flow of traffic. At Tank Bund, arrangements were made to avoid inconvenience for women in immersing floral stacks.
