C. Gautam Bhoopal Reddy was elected president of the prestigious Secunderabad Club in the elections held on Monday. The result was announced late in the night after eight rounds of counting. C Bhoopal Reddy secured 846 votes, defeating his rival V. Krishna Das.
Bhoopal Reddy was said to be the favourite and led from the first round of counting.
The
counting started at 4.30 pm and ended at 11.15 pm, the exercise being delayed by more than two hours due to the rain. Despite the downpour, members waited for the outcome of each round of counting.
The other committee members Nagesh Boorugu, Suresh Khemani and K. Tapan Rao. The new panel will assume charge soon.
