The city traffic police on Monday seized a motorcycle at Amberpet on which 179 challans were imposed for various traffic violations as the owner failed to clear the penalty amount of Rs 42,475.
The motorcycle, which was registered in the name of P Rathnaiah, had challans pending for various violations like signal jumping, helmet-less driving by the rider, wrong parking, triple riding and driving in no-entry zone. Surprisingly, over 150 challans pertained to helmetless
driving.
The traffic police were checking motorists for pending traffic challans at Ali Café junction in Amberpet when the man on noticing the police parked his motorcycle on the roadside and left the place. The traffic police who seized the vehicle for wrong parking immediately checked the pending challans history and were shocked to notice 179 challans were pending.
The vehicle was seized by the traffic police.
