Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached out to the people of Telangana with a promise that the BJP would continue to work for them and assured that the party would leave no stone unturned in fulfilling this commitment.
Thanking BJP workers for their hard work in the state elections, Modi declared in Telugu: "BJP Telangana abhivruddhi kosam ellappudu pani chestune untundi. Telangana tho maaku chaala manchi anubandham undi (BJP will always work for the development of Telangana. We have a very good relationship with Telangana).
Addressing a gathering of party leaders and workers in New Delhi at the party’s national headquarters while celebrating the BJP’s win in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Modi made it clear that the BJP had bigger plans for Telangana in the future, in a sign of laying the foundations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
In a post on X, Modi
said: "Our bond with Telangana is unbreakable."
He said that support for BJP has been growing in the state over the past few years and that "this trend will continue in the times to come."
It may be recalled that Modi also switched often to Telugu during his campaign speeches in the state during his last leg of public meetings, drawing an enormous response from the crowds.
Meanwhile, BJP president J.P. Nadda said the party humbly accepts the mandate in Telangana. Saying BJP has considerably strengthened its position in the state, Nadda, in a post on X, thanked people "who showed faith in our vision in these elections. I thank the karyakartas of BJP for their constant efforts and diligence."
He said the BJP, under Modi’s leadership, would work for the betterment of Telangana and its people with even more rigour.
