The BJP on Sunday rang the curtains down on its week-long collection of applications for party tickets for the Assembly elections with 6,003 forms. On Sunday, the last day, 2,781 aspirants submitted their application forms.
The party set up four help desks to receive applications on the last day. Among those who submitted their forms was BJP minorities’ leader Firasat Ali Baqri, who is seeking a ticket from Charminar.
On the absence of senior party leaders submitting their name formally, N. Indrasena Reddy, BJP national
executive member, told reporters that there were a lot of queries from those who joined the party recently at the ground level as well as NRIs and others on how and where they could apply.
"This was the reason why we announced this process and set up a help desk. The idea was to facilitate and make it hassle-free for first-timers and even ground-level karyakartas," he said.
A senior leader said the forms would be sorted constituency-wise and submitted to the party selection committee.
