The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Telangana were left red-faced following a faux pas in an image used in flexies put up at many places in Hyderabad of account of the counter-protest over paddy procurement organised by its state unit. The flexies showed image of wheat and wheat crop instead of paddy, an apparent oversight that was a subject of ridicule on social media platforms.
The BJP state unit is stating a counter protest at Indira Park in Hyderabad, while the Telangana ruling party TRS party organised a protest in Delhi with the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao participating in it. The BJP’s counter protest to demand the TRS Government to procure paddy from farmers. Apart from State unit leaders, union Parliamentary Affairs Minister V Muralidharan has been invited to the protest at Indira Park
Accordingly, the party has put up flexis and posters at several places in the city and at the venue.
But the ‘enthusiasm’ of the BJP party to use pictures of wheat instead of paddy in the flexis has triggered trolls on social media. Sharing the BJP party’s flexis images, a Twitter user Spirit of Congress tweeted “BJP president of Telangana using wheat pictures for a paddy protest.” Another Twitter user Akarapu Saiteja tweeted “They don’t even know the difference between wheat and paddy.”
Manichandrayadav tweeted “Bandi Sanjay is it paddy or wheat which you kept in the flexis. Like your leaders, you also eat wheat but say to your leaders to buy paddy. Otherwise you should eat wheat itself, we will not give you rice”. Naomi Cohen another Twitter user tweeted “Just imagine if Amarsingh karwan would win as an MLA. He doesn’t the difference between wheat and rice. Looks like he eats grass for living. BJP in Telangana itself asked farmers to sow rice and said Centre will buy but it’s demanding State to buy,”
