CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday found fault with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for politicising the Pulwama terror attack.
Speaking to mediapersons at the party headquarters here, Yechury said that at a time when the country was united on the issue, the BJP was politicising it. “Amit Shah said it’s the BJP government not the Congress government in power and that it will punish and teach lessons to terrorists. The BJP is trying to get electoral benefits out of the terror attack. BJP has been in power for more than four-and-a-half years. What has it done to stop terrorist attacks? Prime Minister Narendra Modi was himself absent at the all-party meet,” he
said.
Condemning the Pulwama incident as an anti-national act, he said: “We support our nation in all respects as far as national security is concerned.” He said forming a mahagathbandhan before the LS election was premature. “TMC, Congress in Kerala and TDP are insignificant parties at national level. Post-election alliances are better. The CPM is with the secular forces. To prevent the communal forces from coming to power, we will support any party in the interest of the nation,” he said.
Speaking on CM KCR’s proposed federal front, Yechury said: “Let him try. KCR has been silent for quite sometime now.”
