The BJP will hold its ‘maha dharna’ demanding distribution of 2BHK houses to the poor, at Indira Park on Saturday. Top party leaders, led by Union minister and BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy will take part in the dharna. The BJP is trying to hold the BRS government and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao accountable for the promises made by the ruling party with regard to 2BHK houses, which, the BJP says, the government has not kept.
The protest was postponed twice, once on account of the heavy rains, and the second time when party MPs were summoned to Delhi to attend the
Lok Sabha session for the no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, the party has said that it is staunchly opposed to the BRS government’s promise of Rs 1 lakh financial aid to minorities, calling this promise unconstitutional. Tarun Chugh, party general secretary in-charge of the state party affairs, on Friday said, "The Constitution does not allow any kind of reservation or appeasement based on religion, caste. KCR is deliberately trying to create confusion, he is lying on this promise, and is playing vote bank politics."
